U3A: The Raikeswood Camp German POWs’ experiences, Swadford Centre

Wednesdays 17th January to 14th March/1:30pm-3:30pm

Most of our locals are familiar with the Raikeswood POW camp, it was a camp used to imprison German soldiers during the First World War. In the last few years, with the help of various archaeological societies and the University of Leeds, we’ve been able to deconstruct just what life was like for those POWs, this half term course aims to educate us even further with the aid of diaries written by the POWs themselves.

Knotweed: How It Can Affect Your Home, Keighley Town Hall

A growing concern for homeowners across Britain, Japanese knotweed has the capability of growing through walls and even dismantling small structures like garden sheds. Unlike other weeds, it’s an offence to dispose of this plant in conventional methods, this talk from trained specialists in Japanese knotweed treatment will bring you up to speed. Teas and coffees will be provided to those that attend this free event.

Vegan Night Supper Club, Filmore & Union

25th-27th January

Have you considered ‘going vegan’? Maybe you’re curious and would like to see what a ‘vegan’ diet would be like? Well you can find out this month when Filmore & Union bring a Vegan Supper Club to their restaurant in Skipton. Featuring exciting dishes such as their Tofu Rendand Curry and Roasted Butternut Squash Gnocchi, this is a great opportunity to try out some new flavours and a healthy new lifestyle!

The Rewind Project presents: A Tribute to Bob, Venue Sports and Music Bar

26th January/8pm

There’s always good times to be had at our very own Sports and Music bar, Venue, this month we have venerable legend Si Frater paying tribute to Bob Mount with a huge set of uplifting, retro tunes showcasing the very best of Italian house anthems and Old Skool beats. Supporting him is Chris Angels, the Rewind residents and a host of other great guests.
