Music Events To Get Excited About This Spring

Spring is finally here, so it’s time to shake off those Winter blues and get back out there again!

Now that that cold nights are (mostly) behind us, there are a raft of great new music events and activities that are being scheduled; just the thing to get you out of the house and into your dancing shoes.

Whilst there’s not a huge amount of events taking place in Skipton itself, there are a good handful of nights on for music fans who don’t mind travelling a little further afield for a night out. Take a look at the upcoming listing for Spring and let us know if you’re planning on going to any of them:

Beverley Beirne. Ilkley Manor House

5th April 2019/7:30pm/£15

Considered be one of the true stars of the Jazz scene, Beverley will be accompanied with one of the UK’s most acclaimed pianists, Jamil Sherrif. This mighty duo will be performing a wide jazz set including some inventive versions of standards, re-imagined pop covers and also some compositions of Jamil’s own creations that are all about Ilkley and its mythologies.

Airedale Symphony Orchestra Spring Concert, King’s Hall, Ilkley

7th April 2019/7:30pm/£13

The Airedale Symphony Orchestra has been hailed as one of the best community orchestras in the country and their series of concerts have been a continued delight for visitors from far and wide, as well as the local music lovers. This spring concert features the orchestra, playing with the widely regarded pianist William Green. On the bill is Beethoven, Brahms, Copland and Respighi.

A Foreigner’s Journey, The Exchange, Keighley

13th April 2019/7:30pm/£11

Take two of the most popular Album-Oriented Rock bands of the 80s and put them together in a huge 2-hour show that celebrates the very best of the era. A Foreigner’s Journey presents this spectacular show featuring wall-to-wall hits from Journey and Foreigner. ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ that you’ll get ‘Hot Blooded’ at this one of a kind show which will have plenty of ‘Dirty White Boys’ dancing like it was 1981!

Bingo Beatz, The Muni, Colne

William McCarthy Pop-Up Show, Chewies Bar

Singer and songwriter William McCarthy is returning for his 3rd tour of the UK and Europe, and he’s managing to fit in a pop-up show at Chewies Bar. For those who are unaware, McCarthy was the frontman for successful indie-rock bands Pela and Augustines. Since the break up of those acts, McCarthy has written a book and released a studio album which he’ll be playing cuts from at this special show.
