The annual Skipton Waterway Festival takes place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

The event is based around the Leeds-Liverpool Canal as it runs through the heart of the Town – and much of the entertainment is centred on Skipton's Canal Basin off Coach Street, but within five minutes walking distance of the High Street.

Up to 100 boats attend each year and boats are decorated in the theme of the year. There are always some fantastic boat decorations. Examples from last year include the 101 Dalmations, King Kong, The Towering Inferno, Batman, Dr.Doolittle, Gentlement Prefer Blondes and lots more to be discovered over the weekend!

On the Sunday evening, after dusk, dozens of boats sail along the canal and through the town as part of the annual Illuminated Cruise which has been attended by thousands in previous years.

There will be plenty of entertainment all weekend around the Canal Basin with displays, music, comedy, dancing and magic – something for everyone.

Canal tours and cruises will be available – and there will also be hundreds of stalls and sideshows to keep everyone occupied.

On Sunday morning the Farmer's Market is by the canal selling local produce - but hurry up down, they soon sell out...

We hope you will be able to join us for a fantastic Bank Holiday Weekend of great family fun and to celebrate our waterways.
